Sports Fishing

The MV Billfish operates all year round, specialising in Giant Black Marlin Fishing during the months of September through December and Light Tackle Sports Fishing year round for species such as Spanish Mackerel, Yellowfin Tuna, Trevalley and Barracuda.

Popper Casting is very popular for enthusiastic anglers in search of Giant Trevalley. Juvenile Black Marlin and Sailfish as well as Mahi Mahi, Wahoo and Cobia are predominant in our waters in the later months of the year when the water is the perfect temperature.

HEAVY TACKLE

Charters can be organised on extended days for the reefs north of Cairns or a single day out of Cairns . Season opens on the 1st of September and runs through to the end of December. (Prices On Application)

EXTENDED CHARTERS

Live aboard Billfish, stay in a 5 Star luxury Resort or opt to Mothership, we can organise a charter to suit you.

Liveaboard charters sleep 4 anglers comfortably. We provide all bait, tackle, linen, meals, softdrinks/waters, BYO alcohol.
Mothershipping offers anglers the comfort and luxury of 5 star appointments which include their own chef, the best wines and beers, comfortable air-conditioned sleeping berths, TV/Videos and CD players. Spend the day fishing, return to the Mothership at night.
Island Accommodation combines the excitement of Black Marlin Fishing with the luxury of a 5 star island retreat. Lizard Island has recently been revamped by the P&O group and affords the ultimate in seclusion and luxury. For this combination of island/fishing holiday we suggest a minimum of 7 days. Anglers can fly to Lizard Island ex Cairns and be transferred to MV Billfish each day after breakfast - How civilised! (Prices On Application)

DAY CHARTERS

Depart Cairns Marlin Marina at 8.00am and return approx. 6.30pm. We operate with a maximum of 4 anglers and 3 crew. All bait tackle, lunch, tea, coffee, softdrinks and waters are supplied. (Prices On Application)

LIGHT TACKLE

Fishing light tackle is an exhilarating experience! We use TLD 25's and 50's as well as Shimano Spin Reels with Custom Built Rods and a wide variety of tackle with names such as Moldcraft and Boss Lures. On all our charters, bait, tackle food and beverages are supplied. (Prices On Application)

MIXED FISHING

Our Mixed days consist of a combination of Reef Fishing and Light Tackle Fishing. This charter can be booked as a share charter or sole charter. Day trips leave the Cairns Marlin Marina at 8.00am and return at 5.00pm. (Prices On Application)

SPECIALIZED SOLE CHARTERS

Popper Casting: The waters of Far North Qld are well known for their Giant Trevalley - or GT's and for the GT enthusiast Popper Casting is the way to go! Day trips or extended charters can be arranged and all bait, tackle, food and beverages are provided. (Prices On Application)

DAY CRUISES TO THE REEF:

BILLFISH'S versatility lends itself to cruising the Islands and Reefs of the Great Barrier Reef . We take a maximum of 6 and devote our attention to showing off the best our beautiful reef has to offer. We provide all the snorkel gear, towels, morning tea and a bountiful buffet lunch including seafood and champagne, beer and soft drinks. We can even arrange to have a dive guide or instructor and all the gear for those who wish to scuba dive, be it a certified diver or an intro diver. (Prices On Application)
